Age of candidacy to write in votes
[edit]Does the age of candidacy apply to write in votes? Supposing if someone who was 25 years old ran for governor unofficially and won by write in , would they take office regardless of the fact that you must be 30 years of age?
- It would depend on the state, I believe, and how it is worded. For example to be a Rep., you must be over 25, no matter what, for in the US Constitution it states: "No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen."
- Also, not all states have a specific age regarding governors.

Australia
[edit]Does anyone have a reference for where the provision for the age of candidacy in Australia is? i.e. which act, what section in the constitution? I can't seem to find it anywhere 60.241.184.127 (talk) 12:34, 23 January 2011 (UTC) (Sorry wasn't logged in: Iamstupido (talk) 12:35, 23 January 2011 (UTC) )

Turkey
[edit]The age of candidacy in Turkey will be changed to 18 as soon as the results from the recent constitutional referendum are made official (probably in a couple weeks). Kaldari (talk) 20:53, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
Recommend Age of Candidacy in US
[edit]Recommend splitting out the US in depth discussion. Also recommend converting list into a table or using NO_TOC. Trilotat (talk) 21:31, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- Those sound like good ideas to me, although it would be good to leave a brief summary of the US issues in this article. Kaldari (talk) 21:59, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
- I cannot tell if my suggestion was late or someone has since done this. I consider this complete. Trilotat (talk) 14:02, 13 May 2017 (UTC)

Scotland
[edit]I have removed the point saying people in Scotland can stand for election at the age of 16 as while 16 year olds in Scotland can vote for the Scottish Parliament and Local elections there is still a requirement that a candidate has to be at 18 or older to stand. World map
[edit]In thew world map, I'm thinking that the top and bottom categories should be unbounded, and that the 20 category be folded into the 18 category to fill in the empty and unassigned 19 bracket, and because the 20 bracket currently contains only Nauru. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 08:32, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
Too USA centric
[edit]The page feels extremely US centric. While I don't believe that's against any specific rules rewriting it to be more international would make the article feel more neutral. Coleisforeditor (talk) 20:49, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- Coleisforeditor, I've added the Template:Globalize section template section to the "Controversies". This appears to be the only USA centric section as far as I can see. The globalise template is what to use for this type of situation, though I think it only applies to this section, unless I'm missing something. Please let me know if so.
